SKILL SET

Languages: French & English

BACKGROUND
First and foremost Xavier de Le Rue is a mountain lover and this is at the core of all he does. In his heart he is a freerider and spends his time in the powder whenever conditions allow. His love and skills for both powder and big mountain riding have achieved wide recognition. Not only he can claim numerous freeride world champion title (3) and snowboard cross world champ (4), his riding levcel, he also received major awards from the snowboarding scene, most significants are: “biggest guts” award at The Reels festivals, “stand out of the year” at TransWorld SNOWboarding Rider Poll during SIA at Denver and Snowboarder Magazine Big Mountain of The Year. Also he received various award from different film festivals over the year such as best line at Coldsmoke award, best freerider at The Snowboard Garden Festival and his latest movie Mission Antarctic was nominee for best documentary and « coupd de cœur du jury » at The Reels.   This snowboarding racer and freestyler background combined with his love for the mountain give him the feeling and technical abilities he needs to ride the natural terrain to the full – whether on pillow, minigulf, cliff drop or tight couloirs.   With snowboarding true recognition comes through filming freeride action year after year.  Xavier was eager to also invest time and energy in this side of the sport, and has received well deserved success and respect for his movie and film parts. Xavier has been involved in a highly anticipated freeride film ‘Deeper’ where the riders access their ‘playground’ using only human power. During the 2009 season Xavier focused on big and steep faces in the Chamonix area, and was on expedition to the Antarctic filming for a documentary “Lives of the Artists” (by Relentless) – it left a deep impression “It was the trip of a lifetime, everyday we rode peaks and landscapes I would never have even expected to see”. He scored mindblowing action part in TB20 and 2112 NY Standard Films. Following this experiences, he created his own film prod company called TimeLine Films which produced webisodes on a regular basis during couple season, and movies such as This Is My Winter, White Noise. For Fall 2013 Xavier will be visible in Nation, Transworld new flick, Into The Moind from Sherpas cinemas,  a documentary on steep riding by TimeLine Films and much anticipated MissionAnatrctic documenting the trip of his comeback to Antarctic on a small boat with his crew, a TimeLine Films Collab with Camp 4 collective.   For this upcoming season, Xavier’s biggest challenge beside promoting Timeline Missions, the Mission Antarctic movie and World Snowboard Day as an ambassador, will be to chase the only snowboardcross medal he’s missing on Russian ground during Sochi Olympic.

Xavier is not only a big mountain snowboarder but the founder of this revolutionary autonmous flying camera that has created a huge buz world wide after an incredibily successful kickstarter campaign in june 14.

BACKGROUND

A sense of adventure, love of the outdoors and a respect for the environment gives Melody an endless and open field in which to carry out her profession and passion for photography and film making. Her hobby turned to full time career in the ocean where she fully qualified as a scuba diver and began working as an under water photographer at the age of 20. By chance meetings this took her to the Alps where she worked as an Ice diver in the lake in Tignes, France, inspired by her then favourite film at the time, the Big Blue by Luc Besson. Ski filming and photography were a natural progression from there. After a few more seasons she decided to focus on making a serious career in this field and she completed a BA honors in Film & Sport Science between London, UK and Melbourne Australia in 2001.

Melody was Europe’s first broadcast female ski camerawomen and has seen films screened on TV, in film festivals for many years. She has also seen her images published in many international press in magazines such as 30 Degrees, Cooler, Verbier Life, Conde Naste, Harpers Bazaar, Whitelines, Snow, Ski Canada, Daily Mail Ski & Snowboard, In the Snow, Dark Summer, Fall Line, Ski Japan and newspapers such as le Matin, 24 Heures, Financial Times, Observer, Times, Telegraph, Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Express, Evening Standard, Independent and also a variety of books and online.

Although Melody has been predominantly based in the mountains, she is a keen freediver and is passionate about the ocean. Her aim is to make films that bring together action sports, adventure travel and the incredible environments and animals that are under threat of the modern world and carry a message through the fashionable sub culture of action sports and technology.
