Melody Sky
SKILL SET
Photographer / Camerawoman / Director / Producer
Languages: English, French and basic Italian
BACKGROUND
A sense of adventure, love of the outdoors and a respect for the environment gives Melody an endless and open field in which to carry out her profession and passion for photography and film making. Her hobby turned to full time career in the ocean where she fully qualified as a scuba diver and began working as an under water photographer at the age of 20. By chance meetings this took her to the Alps where she worked as an Ice diver in the lake in Tignes, France, inspired by her then favourite film at the time, the Big Blue by Luc Besson. Ski filming and photography were a natural progression from there. After a few more seasons she decided to focus on making a serious career in this field and she completed a BA honors in Film & Sport Science between London, UK and Melbourne Australia in 2001.
Melody was Europe’s first broadcast female ski camerawomen and has seen films screened on TV, in film festivals for many years. She has also seen her images published in many international press in magazines such as 30 Degrees, Cooler, Verbier Life, Conde Naste, Harpers Bazaar, Whitelines, Snow, Ski Canada, Daily Mail Ski & Snowboard, In the Snow, Dark Summer, Fall Line, Ski Japan and newspapers such as le Matin, 24 Heures, Financial Times, Observer, Times, Telegraph, Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday, Express, Evening Standard, Independent and also a variety of books and online.
Although Melody has been predominantly based in the mountains, she is a keen freediver and is passionate about the ocean. Her aim is to make films that bring together action sports, adventure travel and the incredible environments and animals that are under threat of the modern world and carry a message through the fashionable sub culture of action sports and technology.
